अमरकथा क्रमश:
हे सर्पराज ! तुम सहस्त्र मुखों से वायु का पान करो। अपने प्राणों को इस वायु द्वारा तृप्त करो, क्यों कि तुम वायु के खाने वाले हो। भगवान के अमृत रूपी वचन सुनकर एक क्षण में शेषनाग ने देखते ही देखते वायु रूपी दैत्य का भक्षण कर लिया।
हे देवी ! उस दिन से ये पर्वत शेषनाग के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है, तथा योगी जन इसको अपना आश्रम भी कहते हैं। इसके दर्शन से तथा तालाब में स्नान करने से और यहां पर जप, हवन, स्तुति का स्वाध्याय करने से मनुष्य अनन्त पुण्य को प्राप्त होता है।
जब देवताओं ने राक्षसों को मार डाला तब उनमें से प्रष्टता नामक दैत्य वायु में मिलकर देवताओं को कष्ट देने लगा। इस पर समस्त देवता भगवान श्री सदाशिव जी महाराज के पास गए और उनकी स्तुति की। इस पर भगवान श्री सदाशिव जी महाराज ने प्रसन्न होकर कहा।
O Sarp Raaj! You began to imbibe air with your thousands mouth. Let your soul be satisfied with this air, because you are air-eater. Sheshnaag eaten the air-form demon in a moment to heard the word of Shri Vishnu Jee. O Devi! Since that day, The Mountain became famous with the name of Sheshnaag Mountain. And the yogi people also called this place as their aashram. People get infinite virtue to take bath, chant mantra, do havan, prayer, self recitation of praise and take bath. When God killed demons then Prashtata demon began to torture god to mix with air. Then all God went towards Shree Sadaashiv and began prayer. God Sadashiv get pleased with prayer and said -
